Oh For Real: VH1 Calls Crazy Sexy Cool A Fictionalized Portrayal

VH1 is backing away from its portrayal of Pebbles Reid calling Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story a fictionalized portrayal of events.

Pebbles Reid distributed the following press release

VH1 STATES THAT TLC MOVIE WAS A “FICTIONALIZED PORTRAYAL”
Ms. Perri “Pebbles” Reid just appeared on The Wendy Williams Show for her first exclusive interview since the airing of the TLC Movie. She shared with viewers the response she received from VH1.

Ms. Reid’s attorneys demanded a retraction of the false and defamatory statements and scenes about Ms. Reid in the TLC Movie.

In response, VH1 declined to retract the statements and claims that the TLC Movie was not meant to a recitation of true events. This is stunning given that VH1 and TLC promoted the Movie as a true story.

VH1 now claims that “the movie is a fictionalized portrayal of the development of TLC as told from the perspective of the members. It features a cast of professional actors in a scripted context, and no reasonable person would view it as a literal recreation of historical events.” (emphasis added)

Ms. Reid agrees with VH1 that the movie was fiction, but does not agree that VH1 wrote, promoted, or released the movie as such.
