According to reports Mary J. Blige's father, Thomas Blige, spotted his 50-year-old ex-girlfriend letting the air out of his tires in the parking lot of the apartment complex where they both live.
Thomas went outside to confront her, they argued and she stabbed him in the neck three times. Mr. Blige was rushed to the hospital and was listed in critical condition.
Police officers found the girlfriend inside her apartment wearing bloody clothes with the alleged weapon. She was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder.
The couple have had several run-ins with police in the past six months.
In August the girlfriend was charged with aggravated domestic violence after she hit Blige in the head with a glass candle stick.
She pleaded no-contest in that case and was placed on six months probation and ordered not to have combative contact with Blige.
