Pebbles Suing Viacom For $40 Milli Over Depiction In “The TLC Story”

You knew this was coming right? Pebbles has finally sued Viacom over the way she was portrayed in their TLC biopic.

Perri “Pebbles” Reid — former manager of the girl group TLC — is suing Viacom for $40 million over the movie “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.”

Reid claims in Atlanta federal court that the 2013 VH1 movie portrays her “as a conniving and dishonest business woman who hoodwinked three innocent girls and exploited their talent for her own personal gain.”

An R&B singer who has herself sold over 4 million records, Reid says in the suit that Viacom “ignored fundamental canons of journalistic and literary conduct by publishing false and defamatory accusations with actual malice.”

The suit filed late Friday states that, contrary to what VH1 viewers saw, Reid never controlled TLC’s lawyers or accountants, never withheld contract terms from TLC and always paid the group what they were owed.

After selling 11 million copies of their 1994 album “CrazySexyCool,” TLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Record execs said TLC only filed in order to void their contracts, but the girls, who sued LaFace Records and Pebbitone, Reid’s management company, claimed they were paid only $50,000 a year each in 1993 and 1994.

A spokesperson for Viacom said, “It’s our policy not to comment on matters in litigation.”

Pebbles Gives The Scoop On TLC On The Wendy Show (Video)

Pebbles Reid sat down with Wendy Williams to talk about her portrayal in Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story. Pebbles told Wendy that the biggest lie told in the biopic was that the girls never saw their contracts.

According to Rhymes With Snitch:

Pebbles also said it was T-Boz and Left-Eye’s idea to kick Chilli out of the group for messing around with Dallas Austin, not hers. She also confirmed Chilli had an affair with her husband LA Reid but admits she never actually caught them herself.

Pebbles tells Wendy she is writing a book to tell her side of the story and preparing to sue VH1.

Pebbles Sues VH1 For Their Negative Portrayal of Her

The recent TLC biopic aired by VH1 was not so kind to former TLC manager Peri "Pebbles" Reid, as she's somewhat of a villain in the film. TLC members T-Boz and Chilli have co-signed the representation of Pebbles, but Pebbles claims the movie is slanderous.

Reports Vlad:

To combat the portrayal, she's started a legal battle with VH1, demanding that the take the scenes about her out of the film.

"This unprovoked attack has been extremely upsetting to me and my family," posted Pebbles on twitter.

She claims she "never cheated or mislead anyone" and it's "time the truth comes out."
