The season premier of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding’ pulled in 2.4 million viewers Sunday night easily surpassing NeNe Leakes’s wedding special which pulled in only 1.6 million viewers in its 2013 debut.
According to the Nielsen ratings Kandi’s Wedding beat out every other other Real House Wives spin-off in total viewers in all key demographics.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding airs Sunday nights on Bravo at 8pm.
The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star tied the knot with fiance Todd Tucker on April 4 — and was reportedly mortified when Fantasia took the mic at the reception, calling Kandi “the realest bitch” and “my motherf****n’ friend.” She also went on about Kandi’s big ass.
But Kandi’s rep says she was NOT horrified in the least, telling us, Kandi laughed her big ass off at Fantasia’s speech … and the two had a blast at the wedding.
Bottom line … Kandi and Fantasia know each other really well … and Fantasia could never offend her.
According to a new report from the National Enquirer, the reality TV star’s April 4 ceremony was turned into a nightmare when guests were left shocked by Fantasia’s foul mouth, leaving a fellow bridesmaid to rip the microphone right from her hands.
“Kandi was horrified!” an eyewitness told the magazine.
“She and Fantasia are close, but this may ruin their friendship.”
The wedding was a blow-out event, with two live lions greeting guests as they arrived and Burruss’ father, a minister, performing the ceremony.
But Fantasia’s speech put a damper on the classy event, attended by Burruss’ fellow RHOA co-stars Porsha Stewart, Phaedra Parks and Cynthia Bailey, along with celebrities Keshia Knight Pulliam and Sherri Shephard, who were all left with jaws dropped by her vulgar toast.
“Fantasia started by saying, ‘Kandi, you are my m*therf**kin’ friend and I love you,’” the source told the Enquirer.
“Then she called Kandi the ‘realest b*tch I know’ and rambled on about her big butt. Todd was furious, and the other bridesmaids got Fantasia to sit down. Thank goodness!”

The couple married yesterday evening (April 4, 2014) in a private ceremony held at Le Fais do-do in Atlanta.
The event was being filmed for Kandi & Todd’s upcoming wedding special and it was a ‘Coming to America’ theme. Guests were instructed to arrive around 5pm and were told to wear shades of purple in their attire.
Kandi revealed to InTouch magazine:
This is one of the best days of my life! I never imagined that I would marry my best friend. Todd’s been that to me.
And to have just had the wedding of my dreams, it’s all been so beautiful. Now it’s time to party!
The cute couple met in 2011, during filming of the fourth season of the hit Bravo reality series and StraightFromTheA was first to reveal news of their engagement back in January 2014.

For all of you who had doubts, Mama Joyce was there and actually walked Kandi down the aisle. While I’ve heard Mama Joyce threw up her hands in disgust when asked ‘who gives this bride,’ at least she walked away without a confrontation and allowed the wedding to proceed.

Kandi’s wedding gown and all of her bridesmaids dresses was reportedly being custom made by Atlanta designer Reco Chapple.I heard that security was tight at the recording, so don’t expect the ‘big reveal’ until Kandi’s show finally airs.A few things I’ve ‘heard’ along the way… Todd’s mom got into it with Mama Joyce a few days before the wedding and reportedly called her a messy b*tch. I’m not sure if the in-laws cleared the air before Kandi finally walked down the aisle, but I do know that Kandi and Todd did finally say ‘I do’ and it’s a done deal.Todd and Kandi are each parents of two beautiful daughters. Todd has a 17 year Kae and Kandi is the mother of 11-year old Riley.
The segment began with Mama Joyce explaining that one of her bigger issues is that the fact that Todd took some time off of work. She said:Here's a rough version of the whole segment:
Well, really Todd seems like a very nice person and when I met him he seemed like a very nice person. But I have a problem with after his first job, which was doing the Kim and Kroy wedding he took like two months off. Now, I come from a family of men that work. I had a problem with that ya know? And also, he said that he was using part of his savings and when you already to me, stepping up I feel like you don’t need to use part of your savings.During their appearance, Whoopi Goldberg flatly told Mama Joyce that she should allow her daughter to make her own mistakes, without her interfering. She said:
Now here’s my question. You have a man in your life right? She up in your business?To which Mama Joyce replied,
No.Whoopi continued:
Now okay. You and I are minutes apart in terms of age…we don’t have time for this. Let her make the mistake, if she’s gonna make the mistake. You gotta let her do it. You can’t do this for her. We listened kinda to our parents, but we had to make our own mistakes. She gotta do it.Mama Joyce admitted that ideally, leaving her daughter’s romantic life would be ideal, if her grand daughter Riley was not in the picture. Mama Joyce shared:
It’s not all about…if it was just Kandi, I would agree with you. But Kandi has a daughter. And that’s who I’m worried about…Todd calmly defended himself, acknowledging that he did take some time off, after working on Kim Zolciak’s wedding special, but noted that he’s launched his own production company and just landed two new projects.
I think everyone has a breaking point…The lies, that stuff is really tough. I have a mom and it affects my mother. It affects my daughter. It affects Kandi’s daughter. The other day Kandi’s daughter told Kandi ‘I don’t like that he said he would leave you’.Kandi, caught in between the two, chimed in having a semi-emotional moment. Through tears, she painfully explained:
It is very frustrating beca it’s like I love my mother to death…I do feel like Ma, you had kids too…Your mother didn’t interfere with your relationships…I just feel like you treat me like I am just stupid and I have no sense of responsibility and I don’t think that’s fair.
Kandi assures her mother and her fans that she and Todd will definitely have a pre-nup in place before they tie the knot. Kandi writes on her Bravo blog,
“…I’m not getting married without a pre-nup. Todd and I already agreed that we were doing one, but I don’t know why [my mother] feels like she has to be the one he negotiates it with. Todd did his best to not be disrespectful to my mom no matter what she said to him, which I’m thankful for, but he is more than a little tired of the drama though…”
In speaking with HipHollywood, Kandi discussed whether or not she and the other members of Xscape received a bad deal when they first entered the music industry. Kandi responded with, “Our deal sucked. I think we had the same amount of points. for a lot of people, that was the same.
She continued by saying, “In my mind, no one is gonna just spend all this money and you haven’t proven yourself.”
Many people would actually agree with Kandi’s points. While we don’t know exactly what happened between Pebbles and TLC (though they’ve been telling the same story for 20 years and Pebbles is just start to deny that she did anything wrong), Kandi believes that the biggest problem was renegotiation:
“…It was all about being able to renegotiate on your second time around or third time around. I think that’s probably where the problem was with them because their situation, they weren’t able to renegotiate.”
Kandi Burruss says that in the end it worked out for them because TLC is making millions now and it all started from their issues with Pebbles.
