Doc Rivers To Quit Clippers If Donald Sterling Remains

Donald Sterling has repeatedly let it be known that he refuses to go away without bloodshed from a Los Angeles Clippers organization that doesn’t want him there.

The 80-year-old longtime NBA owner recently filed a new lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court in efforts to delay the inevitable.

None of this impresses head coach Doc Rivers. In fact, he has reportedly threatened to leave the team if Sterling isn’t removed by August 15.
Via USA TODAY:

Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers has told the team’s interim CEO Richard Parsons that he doesn’t want to return next season if disgraced owner Donald Sterling remains associated with the Clippers.

“Doc has been the guy who has had to stand up and deal with the media” during the controversy surrounding Sterling’s racist comments in April and his subsequent lifetime ban from the NBA, Parsons testified Tuesday in the Sterling probate trial.

“He has told me he doesn’t think if Mr. Sterling remains that he wants to continue as coach. He’s told me that at least three times.”

Parsons said it would be “a disaster” if Rivers leaves.

“Doc is the father figure to the team,” Parsons testified. “Chris Paul is the on-court captain, but Doc is the leader, the coach, the grownup, a man of inestimable character and ability, not only a brilliant basketball coach but a man who really connects with people. He’s a man the players believe in and admire.”

Oh For Real? V. Stiviano Planning Tell All-Book On Donald Sterling Relationship

Donald Sterling’s alleged mistress, V.Stiviano has plans to tell her personal story, via a tell-all book. According to V’s close friend, Karrine Steffans, at some point she plans to share her life’s journey with the world.

I know that V writes a lot down, she records everything, she’s an archivist, there are always things in her head. That’s who she is. She has her very own way of seeing things. V will write a book one day.

The reformed music video model, who wrote the New York Times bestseller, Confessions of a Video Vixen, claims Stiviano was well aware of her successful background as an author when they were introduced through a mutual friend just over a month ago. But she wants to make it very clear that she is not helping the billionaire’s 38-year-old gal pal get a book deal despite Stiviano’s numerous – and obvious – references on Instagram to fishing for publishers: “I THINK IM READY?” she wrote, citing #thenewyorkbestsellers #newyorktimes #thenewyorker #losangelestimes #crown #publishers and #randomhouse. “IM PATIENTLY WAITING.”

She’s said ‘When I do write a book, it’s not going to be about this,’” Steffans continued of the racism scandal that led to the fallen basketball owner to be banned from the NBA for life. ‘But V says a lot of things, like she told me she would become president and wanted to be the mayor, which is weird.

Report: NBA Privately Tells Donald Sterling Step Down & Sell Team Or Suspended Indefinitely

The National Basketball Association is preparing to indefinitely suspend the 80-year-old billionaire owner of the Los Angeles Clippers unless he agrees to step down and sell the team he has owned since 1981.

A source close to the investigation described the potential deal as a “blessing in disguise” for both the team and the NBA.

The league has announced it will conduct a swift and thorough investigation of the alleged racist rants made by Donald Sterling, who as Radar reported, was caught on audio tape questioning his girlfriend’s association with minorities.

In the recording attributed to Sterling, a man asked his girlfriend, Vanessa Stiviano, a woman of Mexican descent, not to broadcast her association with black people or bring black people to games.

Sterling specifically mentioned Los Angeles Lakers Hall of Famer Magic Johnson on the recording, saying: “Don’t bring him to my games, OK?”

“If the NBA determines the tape is authentic, they have indicated he will be indefinitely suspended unless he agrees to step down and sell the team,” a top-ranking official told Radar.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said at the weekend that the league needs to confirm authenticity of the audio tape and interview both Sterling and the woman in the recording.

He called the tape “disturbing and offensive.”

“Donald’s racist views were hardly shocking to anyone outside of the NBA,” said the source.

“Let’s not forget, he was sued by former Clipper manager Elgin Baylor for racial discrimination, and settled a lawsuit with the government over allegations that he discriminated against tenants at apartment buildings he owns. Donald doesn’t have any friends or allies among other owners in the league.”

But the source warned, “The NBA is tightly governed about forcing an owner to sell a team. The NBA can only force an owner to sell if the team is facing dire financial circumstances, such as not being able to make payroll.”

Time magazine named Sterling one of the most hated sports team owners in 2012.
