With LeBron James’ business manager Maverick Carter and Fenway Sports Group orchestrating the deal Manziel was able to lock down a multiyear contract with Nike. The financial aspect of the contract hasn’t been disclosed, but Manziel will be receiving the largest endorsement deal out of any rookie in this class.
Among those that Nike was competing against include Adidas, Under Armour, and New Balance’s Warrior Brand. The inability to sign Manziel hurts Adidas the most as they sponsored the Texas A&M Aggies during his two years at College Station.
Johnny Manziel joins an elite roster at Nike that already includes NFL quarterbacks Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers.
