The D.C. leg of the Rock the Bells festival, set to take place Sat., Sept. 28, has been canceled two days before the event, according to Ticketmaster.com.
Reports The Drop:
Rumors began swirling on Twitter Thursday (Sept. 26) about the show’s cancellation due to poor ticket sales, according to an e-mail screenshot posted by a Twitter user.
Kid Cudi, Wu-Tang Clan, J. Cole, Black Hippy, Girl Talk, A$AP Mob and many more hip-hop staples, including holograms of Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E, were set to perform at the RFK stadium in the nation’s capitol this Saturday (Sept. 28) and Sunday (Sept. 29). According to the Washington City Paper, Chinyere Hubbard, the vice president for communications and marketing of Events DC, RFK’s operator, confirms that the shows are canceled.
There are also rumors that the New York leg of the tour has been canceled, but according to representatives at both the Meadowlands Sports Complex and Ticketfly, the shows scheduled for Sat., Oct. 4 and Sun., Oct. 5 are still going on.
Hip-hop fans who were planning to attend the festival in D.C., are disappointed in the news, but will receive a full refund.
