Sean Taylor Killer Convicted Of Murder By Florida Jury

We finally have a verdict in the trial of one of the accused killers of former Redskins safety Sean Taylor, who was shot to death at his Florida home in November 2007.

Reports CBS Sports:

After four days of deliberation, a Florida jury has convicted 23-year-old Eric Rivera of second-degree murder in the death of former Redskins safety Sean Taylor.
Taylor died Nov. 24, 2007 from a gunshot wound he suffered as the victim of a botched home invasion.

Rivera confessed to authorities that he shot Taylor after kicking in a bedroom door. But once he was on the witness stand, Rivera said investigators eager for a conviction coerced his confession. He later claimed that someone else shot Taylor.
Four other men were charged in the case. One has pleaded guilty and the others will stand trial at a later day.

The Redskins drafted Taylor with the fifth-overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. At 24, he was one of the NFL's best young talents when he was killed.

According to the Washington Times, the penalty for second-degree murder in Florida ranges from 25 years to life.
