Among the performers scheduled to appear during the show’s premiere run are Ice Cube, Mac Miller, Nas and legendary soul-funk group Earth, Wind & Fire.
Ice Cube will sit down and chop it up with Hall on Sept. 10th with the Mac-ster performing on the same show. Then Nas will set it off on Sept. 11 with Magic Johnson as the night’s celebrity guest. Then on the Sept. 12 episode, Earth, Wind & Fire will surely get audiences grooving in their seats with their funky-old school soul.
“My first week of guests offers a taste of pop culture and represents the mix of talent I hope to have on my show every week,” Hall said (via Hollywood Reporter). “I am honored to welcome friends — both old and new — to my show. My goal is to have fun, make people laugh and send viewers to bed with a smile on their face.”
Other guests slated to appear include Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Nick Cannon and Russell Simmons.
The original Arsenio Hall Show ran from 1989 to 1994, and was the go-to program to catch all the popular rap acts not normally seen on other late-night talk shows like David Letterman & "The Jay Leno Show." During that time, controversial rap artists like N.W.A., Ice-T and Public Enemy were blessed with platforms to speak their minds on the social issues affecting the hip-hop community.
I'm glad that Arsenio Hall is back on TV and wish him another successful run on the late night circuit. Now lemme get a woof woof woof for the Dog Pound!
